Biofutures seeks to ensure that best practices are followed in all our dealings with shareholders, customers and employees.

We believe there are compelling advantages in using biofuels, which include:

  • Reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that are contributing to global warming
  • Boosting the decarbonisation of transport fuels
  • Diversifying and expanding energy supply sources
  • Generating economic and environmental benefits in developing countries and creating employment.

Palm oil is entirely GM free and has the highest yield per hectare of any oil or oilseed crop. However, we recognise that there are environmental pressures on the crop's expansion to eco-sensitive areas. We believe it is vital that production and use of palm oil be done in a sustainable manner based on economic, social and environmental viability. Biofutures is an affiliate member of RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), which promotes the growth and use of sustainable palm oil. For more information, please visit www.rspo.org

Under the terms of our manufacturing licence from the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, we have undertaken to train Malaysian nationals to facilitate technology transfers and expertise in all employment categories. We believe that the skills that will be developed through our work in Sabah will provide excellent job opportunities for local people and will boost the local economy.

We recognise the need to operate our plants to the highest international standards. Rigorous quality and environment management practices are good for our business as well as those of our suppliers, our customers and our other stakeholders. With this in mind, Zurex will seek accreditation of its quality management processes to ISO9001:2000 and plans an environmental management programme that will be accredited to ISO140001.
